The best AI Chrome extensions for ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini
AI chats are only as useful as what you give them. Most of the friction isn't in the chat itself, it's in getting things into it: the article you're reading, the whole page rather than one screen of it, the exact color you mean, the name of the song that's playing. The seven tools below each solve one of those problems. Three of them belong to one assistant each (Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT). The other four work with whatever chat you use, and the last two aren't AI tools at all: they hand the chat things it can't get on its own, an exact color and the name of a song.
For Claude in Chrome, Gemini in Chrome and Text Blaze, everything below comes from their makers' official documentation and Chrome Web Store listings.
The tools, and what each one is best at
Claude in Chrome
Anthropic's extension that lets Claude read, click, type and fill forms on websites from a side panel. The most capable option here if you want an assistant that does things in the browser, not just talks about them.
Best for: hands-on browser tasks · Needs a paid Claude planGemini in Chrome
Google's assistant, built into Chrome itself rather than installed as an extension. Click "Ask Gemini" and it can summarize the page, compare up to 10 open tabs and, where available, complete steps for you.
Best for: quick help with the tabs you have open · Built into ChromeChatGPT Summary
One click or Ctrl+Shift+E and the main points of the page appear in a panel next to it, written by ChatGPT. Copy them into any other chat as context.
Best for: reading less, deciding faster · FreeFullPage Capture
Captures an entire web page as one PNG, JPG or PDF. Upload that file to any AI chat and it sees the whole page, layout included, not just the part on your screen.
Best for: giving an AI the full page · FreeText Blaze
A text expander: save your best prompts as snippets and type a short shortcut to insert them into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other text box.
Best for: reusing prompts · Free to install, paid plans availableColor Picker
Picks exact HEX colors from any web page or image, and pulls a whole palette from a picture. Exact codes make AI design and image prompts far more predictable.
Best for: colors in AI prompts · FreeMusic Identifier
Names the song playing in any browser tab. AI chats can't hear your tab, so this is the step that comes before "what are songs like this one?"
Best for: music in videos and streams · Free

How we picked these
We left out the dozens of extensions that simply put a ChatGPT window in a sidebar. Every tool here does something the chat itself can't do: act on a page, see more than one screen, remember your prompts, read an exact color or hear a song. Most of them also work with whichever assistant you prefer, so you can switch between ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini without changing your toolkit.
Common questions
What is the best ChatGPT Chrome extension?
There isn't a single best one; it depends on the job. For reading, a summarizer saves the most time. For getting a whole page into the chat, a full page screenshot tool. For repeat prompts, a text expander. Whichever you pick, check that the publisher is verified on the Chrome Web Store and read what permissions it asks for.
Is there an official Claude Chrome extension?
Yes. Claude in Chrome is Anthropic's own extension, available on paid Claude plans. It works in Google Chrome only.
Do I need an extension to use Gemini in Chrome?
No. Gemini in Chrome is built into the browser for supported regions and accounts. You open it with the "Ask Gemini" button.
Are AI Chrome extensions safe?
Treat them like any software with access to your pages. Install from the Chrome Web Store, check the permissions an extension asks for, and read its privacy policy. Tools that act on pages, like Claude in Chrome, include approval controls for a reason, so use them.
